I used to be one of those girls that had a makeup and beauty collection that mimicked one of a cosmetic store. I had more nail polish, pallets, brushes, trial-sized products and makeup bags to last a lifetime. But makeup all has a shelf life so there is literally no reason to save and stock up so much product especially since I tend to not wear a lot of makeup on the typical day. I have a simple and basic makeup routine for everyday but I do love to play with makeup and go much heavier for special occasions such as weddings and date nights with the hubby (which do not come often enough).
I have gone through my collection and recycled or given away so much stuff and tried to pare down to mostly essentials with a few special products. I still have some more purging to do, I still have nail polish colors that never get used.
Here is my current makeup storage.
On my bathroom sink, I have a gold brushed tray which holds my brushes and products that I use most often. Perfume, hair cream, Argon Oil, Charcoal for natural teeth whitening, mascaras, tweezers, day/night cream and brow pencils.
My brushes are stored in an empty french tea canister. I love all things french plus it was the perfect size. I’ve tried many brands of brushes, both high and low-end. My favorites are by Real Techniques found at Ulta and I tend to find brush sets at TJ Maxx. I love these brushes because they are soft, do not fall apart with washing and are affordable.
The mascaras, eye brow pencils and gel, lip liner and eye liners are stored in an empty Diptyque candle jar in the scent roses. The most amazing and beautiful candle scent ever, but also expensive. This candle was a one time treat to myself.
My husband and I each have our own drawer. Mine is filled with makeup. The front basket is filled with cover up, bronzer, blush, single eye shadows and highlighters. MAC and Nars are my go to brands. I have very sensitive skin and break out anytime I use drug store brands. I find the quality and longevity of these brands to be wroth the price. Also not walking around with hives.
The long basket to the right is mostly lip products. Lipstick, glosses, and chapstick. I do have some trial perfumes that I use for travel, a hand cream and the Etude House Tint My Brow Gel that I ordered off Amazon and am nervous and excited to test out. That will be a future post.
Towards the back I keep hair clips, nail clippers, pencil sharpener, false eyelashes (for Halloween). I am very intrigued by the magnetic false eyelashes. I will be keeping my eye for a pair at TJ Maxx. On the right, I have a few eyeshade pallets lines up.
Underneath the sink I store all of my nail polish and anything else that does not fit in either of these spaces. Toner, face wash, extra contacts, my hair straightener and my travel bags.
