As the Hubby and I prepare for the arrival of Baby Z, we have been trying to cross off things on our long and over do, To-do list. On the top of that list, was to completely over-haul our master bedroom. We had been living with a random assortment of gifted furniture. I really wanted to get rid of everything and start over in our own style.
These are the before pictures. The room was very random and we had stuff everywhere. We went through everything and we either moved what we had elsewhere in the house where it made sense. Put it on the side of road with a Free sign, or donated it to Goodwill. I have donated at least 6 huge bags to Goodwill and continue to find things around the house that we no longer need or use.
And here are the after pictures:
First we bought all new and matching furniture. I found the perfect white furniture at Ikea. I had been looking and looking and found exactly what I wanted, white and simple at Ikea. We also changed the layout to make the bed the focal point of the room. The bed frame can be found here. All of the bedding and pillows were found at various HomeGoods stores over several months. I’m so glad that it all came together. The whole room is gray and white so I knew I need a pop of color. I chose two mint green pillows to keep it from being too girly. The side tables can be found here. The Hubby’s side of the bed. His dresser can be found here. My dresser can be found here. I also have the bassinet set up and ready for when baby Z is ready to make her appearance. On the dresser, I keep the things that I use most often makeup wise. I also saved an entire drawer to hold everything else beauty related. I am so happy with how the bedroom came out. It feels like an adult bedroom. The color scheme makes the room feel light, airy and relaxing. All that’s missing now are curtains and maybe some wall decorations. Onto the next project! 1/25/2015 – UPDATE: We finally put up curtains which pulls the whole room together and makes it feel and appear more complete. Curtain rods can be found here. Curtains can be found here and similar print here. The print that I picked out is no longer available. My dresser top has been added too since the last picture. -Nicole
